Christmas at Chatsworth House Derbyshire

On Friday I went with my mum to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire.

The house and grounds are absolutely stunning and at this time of year part of the house is decorated for Christmas by the staff. The theme this year is pantomime and each room is decorated in a different pantomime theme. I was a little disappointed to discover that you can only see the part of the house that is decorated for Christmas and the tour is over within an hour but with your entrance fee you also get access to the vast gardens and last weekend and this weekend there are Christmas market stalls within the grounds.

On the way home after shopping at the markets we stopped at Baslow a small village within about 5 minutes from Chatsworth. Baslow has a scattering of shops which are all either interior or gift shops. Avant Garde and Vintage Living are beautiful and are packed to the gills with all manner of christmas decorations and gifts.

We had a great day and I will definitely return to Chatsworth in the summer to discover the rest of this stunning house.

Looks like you both had a wonderful time. I imagine you both came home with some goodies.
