Littlewoods recently revealed some of their new products and trends for A/W 14 at a press launch in London.
Amongst the trends was one called rustic romance, which takes it’s inspiration from elements inspired by nature and country life. Flora & fauna patterned fabrics, sit side by side with textured linens and velvet and further layers of wool and lace are brought in with cushions and throws. Lamps in the shape of owls and hares and clocks that replicate old pocket watches and distressed maps, all add to the eclectic country house look. All you need to do now is light the fire, put the kettle on and snuggle down with a good book, once we’ve had a Summer of course!
The best way to create an eclectic look is with texture and pattern. Florals, checks & stripes all work well together as long as they are in the same colour palette, so try and work with tones of the same colour. For these shots, I used a mixture of greys on the mulberry sofa and a combination of reds and berry tones on the dark charcoal sofa. Also to further develop the eclectic look, mix traditional furniture, with industrial lighting and country accessories such as the hare lamp and the pheasant cushion, not forgetting to add lots of family photos, piles of books and vases and jars of flowers to create a cosy inviting home.
Here are some of the shots from the recent Press booklets that were handed out at the launch.
