Tim Walker for Jo Malone Bluebell Fragrance

As you all know by now, I am a huge fan of the photographer Tim Walker . I also love Jo Malone fragrances and bluebells are one of my favourite sights, covering the woodlands and shaded gardens of England in spring. So these images by Tim Walker for Jo Malone’s new fragrance, Bluebell, are the perfect package for me. So whimsical and English I want to buy it before I’ve even smelt it!

Alberto Garcia-Alix Photographer

Whilst I was recently in Mallorca, I was introduced to the work of Spanish photographer, Alberto Garcia-Alix. Alberto, who looks like the Iggy Pop of the photography world, started documenting the people and places of Spain in the post Franco period of the late 70’s & early 1980’s, when free expression became possible. Many of the intimate photographs are of his friends, some who, became well known in their own areas, such as Pedro Almodovar, the film director. Alberto’s subject’s are often dark and on the boundaries of social acceptability and the similarities with Almodovar’s film’s are obvious.

Kate Moss Wedding Photos~Mario Testino

I’ve just seen the beautiful wedding photos taken of Kate Moss & Jamie Hince, by Mario Testino and think they are utterly magical. Of course she is stunning and stylish and never looks bad in a photograph but to see pictures of her which are so intimate is wonderful. Although Kate is an A list celebrity she shuns the lime light and is extremely private, so to share these special  moments with her is a rare treat indeed. It’s so nice to see her so clearly happy and glowing.

Read Fifi Lapin’s blog for the full facts and gossip on Kate’s big day.

You can see she’s a beautiful girl, she’s a beautiful girl

I’ve just spent the last week sunning myself in Majorca and reading the fantastic book Just Kids, by Patti Smith about her life and relationship with the photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.

I’ve long been an admirer of Ms Smith but my admiration has reached new heights after reading this book. She is one of the most sincere, passionate and creative women of the 20th Century and reading her describe her enduring relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe, throughout their early years in New York as struggling artists, and more importantly in Roberts last months, was compelling and inspiring. Their love and mutual respect for each other never wavered and the book was written as a lasting promise to Robert in his dying days. The lady did him proud. Anybody interested in music, art, the New York punk and Factory scene will not be able to put this book down. In the words of the song written about her she likes to leave you hanging on her word!

Glamping

As the children are about to break from school for the summer, a group of friends and myself have decided that we are going to go camping together for the first time. As I am the proud owner of a VW Westfalia camper and the other members of the group are novice and even virgin campers, I have taken it upon myself to make sure that this trip is not a once only experience. I have always made sure that we take away a few home comforts when we go away in our van such as cushions, blankets and lanterns so that the time outdoors can be extended as far into the evening as possible. There’s something magical about sitting with friends in the dusk sipping wine and chatting as the swifts circle and swoop overhead and the stars come out. I know it sounds over sentimental but to me this is what British summers are made of.

With this in mind, I have picked out a few essentials to make our camping trip stylish and comfortable and also chosen some of the best camp sites in the UK who can provide you with the glamping experience so that all you need to do is turn up~don’t forget the cork screw!

These lovely blankets can be ordered through my friend helen’s blog. She can custom make them to any size or colour and are great for wrapping around you in the evening.
