Orly Kiely DS3 Citroen

Apologies now for gushing, but as anyone who knows me will testify, I am a huge Orla Kiely fan.

I’ve not been so excited about a new product for so long but this is amazing and I’m just devastated that I’ve recently bought a new car, and can’t justify buying one of these fabulous vehicles!

This car says everything about you that you don’t need to say yourself and is such a style statement. They are in limited production of 500 for each design and are going to be so coveted, they are surely a new classic car of the future?

Check out the four cool designs on the citreon website, which is a design treat in itself.

Heimtex 2011

One of my first jobs of the new year was the Heimtex exhibition in Frankfurt which is the worlds largest textile exhibition. I worked with a fantastic team of stylists, designers and exhibition stand builders, for 5 long days. The exhibition show cases domestic textiles for the trade and includes a trend hall, which is an area I am always interested in. Unfortunately this time I didn’t manage to get there as I was just too busy. The Heimtex website shows 4 small videos showcasing their four key trends which are sobriety, mix mash, utility & wilderness. It’s definitely worth a look.

The image shows the 1888 Mills stand which I worked on, designed by Liz Leighton Design Concepts and built by DDexhibitions.

Thanks for all the fun, looking forward to next year!

Michael Clark Company

I know that my blog was mainly intended for me to talk about anything design related that I have come across on my travels but I just had to mention the Michael Clark Company who I was fortunate enough to see performing on Friday night at The Lowry Salford. The company are a contemporary dance team and are beyond brilliant. The costumes are all designed by Body Map and the music was by David Bowie, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk and The velvet underground. It was an amazing performance and I urge anybody who gets the chance to see them to go.

Brighton Rock 2011

I am so excited about the re-make of Brighton Rock which opens next Friday 4/2. The seaside setting and the retro styling is going to be such a visual treat and may do for the 1960’s what Mad Men has done for the 50’s. After reading some of the reviews and watching some of the films clips online it inspired me to create some design boards.

New year, new start

Hi, I’m Karen and I am an interior designer and still life props stylist. I have been meaning to write a blog for some time now, so with the beginning of a new year it feels as though it’s a good time to start. I love anything design related…interiors, fashion, crafts, art, film etc…anything and everything is an inspiration.I love reading design blogs and was thrilled when last year my own home appeared as a sneak peak on Design Sponge. It was the highlight of a great year! Happy new year to everybody reading this and here’s to another exciting and inspiring year.
