Interiors are nearly always influenced by what’s happening in the fashion world and the trend for big checks that we’ve seen in all the A/W collections, is no exception.
Tartans and plaids continue to be a big home trend. From the softer plaids we’ve seen on upholstery for quite a while now, we are starting to see lots of traditional red tartans coming through. Tartan and plaid is perfect for cosying up your home for winter. The look is classically British and synonymous with country clubs and lodges, log fires, worn leather and cable knit yarns, all very prominent in interiors.
I’ve put together a design board with some of the High Street buys available, which will add a touch of Highland fling to your home.

Below are a couple of DIY ideas that you can make using blankets found at car boot sales and charity shops.
This cushion is from Not On The High Street but could be easily made from a blanket.
This stool is easily achievable using a piece of tartan and a staple gun.
If you want to bring some laundry bag checks into your home, straight from the runway, and you have the budget, what better way than with these chairs by design power house Paulo Navone. These chairs have been around for quite some time now, which begs the question do interiors follow fashion or is it the other way round?
