I’ve recently read about a new BBC4 biopic that will be shown later this year about a young David Bailey and Jean Shrimpton. Everything about this couple in the 60’s was new and exciting, from the clothes they wore to the places they went and the people they went there with and I for one can’t wait to view this film.
The clothes from that decade were easy to wear, made from new synthetic fabrics and cut in a very simple style. From the a-line dresses, single breasted shift coats and the square heeled shoes, it’s still a great look and one we will all be wearing again if the designs going down the runway this season were anything to go by? But nobody did it better than The Shrimp (oh ok and Twiggy)
As always the High street have been quick off the starting post and dresses such as this Tara Jarmon, for John Lewis are already in store. Zara also have some very wearable interpretations.
Don’t forget the nude lipstick to complete the look!
The 60’s was a ground breaking decade for design and John Lewis have some amazing re-issues by 60’s giant of the industry George Nelson.
