Pantone Colours Trend 2013

According to Pantone View Home & Interiors 2013 edition, colour trend forecasters are predicting flavourful colours for our homes for the coming year.

Their colour trend which they are calling Extracts, combines tones which suggest fruity and spicy flavours and scents such as coral, cinnamon, melon & apple. The palette suggests using these combinations in an unexpected way such as coral & apple or rose & orange. Think of spice notes and exotic fruits.

I think if I was going to use this scheme I would stick to two colours combined with earth tones to anchor the scheme. I’ve put some suggestions together on the design board and I love the image of the girl in the coral cardigan and the pink wellies which I think works so well with the chestnut brown which could be brought into an interior scheme by using lots of dark rich wood furniture?

1) Green ground by Farrow & Ball works well with 2) Coral Blush by Sanderson paints

For a bolder scheme I’ve chosen 3) Auburn Falls 3 with 4) Fuchsia Falls 2 both by Dulux

While we are all just about finished painting our homes various shades of grey, do you think we will be ready to bring the sunshine into our homes next year? It’s a brave choice but it’s amazing how quickly we become accustomed to what we see around us in the stores and in magazines and where the trend forecasters predict, we usually, in the end, follow. Let me know what you think!
