Its a day off work today, well official work as I’ve been decorating in our kitchen, still. But as we have friends arriving tonight to stay before they go skiing tomorrow and Christmas is just around the corner, I thought I’d add to our Christmas decorations with some fresh foliage from my local florist, Floribunda and our own garden.
To me, as I’ve said before, nothing says Christmas as much as berries and lights, so for our hall I bought a big bunch of Eucalyptus and some beautiful branches of berries. I also found these dyed red pussy willow branches in M&S the other day. I’m not usually a fan of any flowers that are dyed an unnatural colour, other than nature intended, but I love the way the red buds look like velvet pom poms on these.
From the garden, I brought in Bay branches and Rosemary which add a wonderful smell to any room.
With some butchers twine I made tiny bouquets of berries, eucalyptus and rosemary which i will use to decorate the plates on the table on Christmas day. Here’s a prototype.
And I found some magic snow powder in my local pound shop, which expands when added to water and made this Christmas scene in a jar. Another bargain I found was this bell jar in Asda of all places. Since being bought by Walmart, they have really upped their game and have some really impressive home ware items that look much more expensive than you would expect.
