Laura Ashley recently unveiled their new collection for Spring/Summer 2013 at their press launch.
One of my favourite trends within the collection, is Bloomsbury, which takes inspiration from the Bloomsbury group of artists and writers, dating back to the beginning of the 20th Century, which included the author Virginia Woolf and her sister, the artist, Vanessa Bell.
Vanessa Bell and her husband Duncan Grant, resided in a country residence called Charleston which become the hub for these bohemian creatives to meet and it is the hand painted decor and soft colours within the house that have influenced the Laura Ashley Collection.
Charleston is another house that I have wanted to visit for many years and this year hopefully will be the one? I have long been a huge fan of the writing of Virginia woolf and the film, The Hours, starring Nicole Kidman, which portrays her life, is one of my favourite films, which I really recommend if you haven’t already seen it.
The Harper chair by Laura Ashley has been upholstered in one of their new fabrics which is an original design by Duncan Grant and re-issued for Laura Ashley’s 60th anniversary. Happy Birthday!
