This weekend I’m going to be helping a friend out who has a theatrical agency and has asked me if I can make the window in her reception area a bit brighter and more interesting. When I was a student, I did some work experience at Harvey Nichols Manchester, as part of their display team, who are responsible for dressing and designing the windows and interior displays through out the store, often on quite restricted budgets surprisingly!
I have always been interested in visual merchandising and display and when it is done well it is truly an art form. Some of the stores who are renowned for their windows are Lanvin, Liberty and Anthropologie and it is surprising how simple but effective they are.
For inspiration I did a bit of research on Pinterest and found some amazing ideas. I think as with most things in design, less is definitely more.
A display from Anthropologie
This is my favourite, so graphic and strong
Simplicity at it’s best
Lanvin window displays
I love these last two ideas, which would also make lovely children’s party decorations.
