I’ve just had a look at the new Laura Ashley A/W collection for this year and was pleasantly surprised to see a couple of their trends are quite contemporary, which is a departure from their usual traditional style.
This year is the 60th Anniversary since the launch of Laura Ashley and though they still do traditional English country style they have transcended into contemporary style easily, with the use of soft colours and mid 20th Century style patterns.Their Leaf & Markings trends are a perfect example of this shift in style.
Leaf gives a nod to mid 20th Century design, with it’s shapes, colours and patterns.
Markings has a colonial early 20th century feel with a nod to the 1930’s and the days of the Raj.
I love the way they have chosen to photograph their Gift ware collection on location this season, which is again a departure from Laura Ashley’s usual studio style images. Lovely!
