The highly artistic Alison Goldfrapp is to curate a collection of 20 of her favourite pieces of art, for the Lowry in Salford, Manchester. Goldfrapp will be one of the first in a series of “performers as curators” for the gallery and the free exhibition will be on view on Saturday 19th October.
Goldfrapp, who herself graduated from art school, is heavily involved with all aspects of her bands visuals and the pieces chosen give an insight into her fascination with fairy tales and folk lore.
If you’ve not seen Goldfrapp’s new short film for Annabel, a beautiful and touching song of love and acceptance for a boy trapped in a girls body, taken from their 6th Album “Tales of Us”, you will be in for a treat. Made by Alison’s partner, Lisa Gunning, who worked on the Sam Taylor Wood film “No where boy” this short film is a dreamy and melancholic accompaniment.
