Next Friday is Valentines day, which I know is a little over commercialised these days, but is something we still like to celebrate in the Barlow house, even if it’s only in a small way. Its just nice to say or be told I love you and if it’s this one day a year that reminds us to do that, then what can be wrong with that?
Fancy restaurants, hotels and sending flowers on this day though, do seem like a rip off, when you are being charged over the odds & a nice personal gift means just as much.
Here’s my roundup of Valentines gifts for the significant other in your life.

This was the first gift that Mr B bought for me when I was 19 years old. 30 years & 2 kids later & I’m still wearing it!

Gifts for kids
I know Valentines day is supposed to be about adults declaring their love to each other but, I also know, in our house, our daughter loves to get something from us. One year her dad made her a homemade card using love heart candy sweets stuck on the front and she still has it displayed in her bedroom. So this year to make your little girl feel adored how about these cute gifts.

Eos lip balm in Strawberry Sorbet on every girls wish list~Selfridges

Hi Karen,
What great ideas. Especially the Polaroid Love Notes from John Lewis. I love sending cards and notes and these are just the job.
