This coming weekend is packed with opportunities for sourcing that perfect special something, a one off, unique piece. Whether that be vintage or hand crafted there are plenty of events around Manchester and The North.
For fans of the long running Northern soap opera, Coronation Street, you can visit the famous weatherfield this weekend which has been turned into an events space, since the set of Coronation Street moved to its new home at media City. This month has seen the old Granada Studios host food, fashion & flea markets and on Sunday 27th April it becomes home to the Vintage Village Market.
For lovers of vintage attire head further up the road towards Media City, to Victoria Warehouse, where you can pop into Manchester Vintage Social and enjoy a whole day out with some vintage shopping, watch an old film at the in house cinema, have a drink at the bar and treat yourself to some tasty food or tea and cakes.
Some of the garments available from Judy’s Affordable Vintage Fair Leeds, the events organisers for Manchester Vintage Social .
If contemporary crafts are more your thing, you’ll have a great day at the Little Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in Altrincham which is a hub of creativity specialising in hand crafted ceramics, jewellery and homewares. A larger event, The Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair, follows in October.
If you fancy a drive into the rural outskirts of Leeds, about an hours drive from Manchester, takes you to Wetherby, where Wetherby Racecourse becomes home for the weekend to a crowd of Antique sellers and foragers.
For a great selection of antique furniture, bric a brac, clothes and textiles, in a beautiful location, it is a great event and one I have been to many, many times and never come away disappointed. There is something for everyone and every budget.
Some of the lovely finds I brought back from Wetherby Racecourse last time, now at home in our bathroom.
So if the sun shines or not, there are indoor and outdoor events a plenty this weekend! Enjoy and leave me a comment if you visited any of them. I’d love to hear from you!
