Every year a team of trend forecasters discuss, digest and digress about their thoughts on what should be the Dulux colour of the year. It’s all very scientific and based on world events, current affairs and major trends brought about by exhibitions, films, street style. The announcement of their final choice was made this year at Tent London and it’s no surprise to find out that the colour of the year follows on from last years Copper blush, as metallics have been such a major player in interiors for many seasons now.
The Dulux Colour of 2016 has been named Cherished Gold and is a warm ochre, beloved by the Dutch masters for its earthy rich quality.
This colour works equally well in a modern contemporary home or a more traditional space, in an urban home or a country cottage, with a dark pairing such as midnight blue or a pretty pastel. It’s versatile and perfect for the new season with it’s warm autumnal tone.
If you can’t see yourself using it as a paint colour within a room, you can just bring it in as an accent colour, using it on a piece of painted furniture or by bringing in soft furnishings?
It also works beautifully with dark dramatic greys which is a perfect accent colour for the new neutral that we have all become a little obsessed with.
What are your thoughts on Cherished Gold, love it or can live without it thanks?
